Nye regler for køller

Her er ordlyden:

The USGA's final position related to the size limit of clubheads and length restrictions just has been released today and is found below.

Notice To Manufacturers

Head Size and Club Length Limits

After consideration of comments received, the provisions of the head size and club length proposal dated May 14, 2003 have been approved for implementation by the USGA I&B and Executive Committees. These new limits will become effective on January 1, 2004. A one-year grace period will be allowed for clubs exceeding these limits that are already in use prior to January 2004. This grace period will conclude on December 31, 2004.

Clubhead Size for Wood-type Clubs

Clubhead volume will be limited to 460 cc plus 10 cc for measurement tolerance. Measurement will be made with a displaced water weight method.

Clubhead heel-to-toe dimension will be limited to 5.0 inches. Clubhead sole-to crown dimensions will be limited to 2.8 inches. Clubheads will be measured with the head positioned at a 60-degree lie angle. If the outermost point of the heel is not clearly defined, it will be deemed to be 0.875 inches above the horizontal plane on which the club is lying (see attached illustration). Both dimensional limits include an allowance for measurement tolerance. Measurement protocol will be published in the near future.

All clubheads that have been submitted to the USGA measuring less than the specified volume limit, have length and height dimensions that are also less than the specified limits.

Club Length

Club length for clubs other than putters will be limited to 48 inches. The measurement of length is made with the club set on a horizontal plane while the sole is set against a 60 degree plane (see attached illustration). The length is defined as the distance from the point of the intersection between the two planes to the end of the grip. Measurement protocol will be published in the near future.

Questions regarding the head size and club length limits should be addressed to the USGA, attention Dick Rugge, P.O. Box 708, Far Hills, NJ 07931, Fax 908-234-0138, e-mail: drugge@usga.org.
