Nå har hun møtt skistjernen Didier Cuche i hans hjemland før LET-turneringen
denne uken.
Her er en pressemelding:
Martens and Cuche meet at Deutsche Bank Ladies Swiss Open
Norwegian golfer Caroline Martens and Swiss veteran ski star Didier Cuche met at
the Deutsche Bank Ladies Swiss Open, taking place from June 14-17 at Golf Gerre
Losone in Ticino, Switzerland.
The former World Cup alpine ski racer Cuche, who ended his 17-year career in
March, was invited to indulge his passion for golf by playing in the Pro Am
ahead of the tournament on Wednesday.
On Tuesday evening, he attended the Pro Am dinner with Martens, who will tee up
in the third largest tournament on the Ladies European Tour from Thursday, with
a prize pot of €525,000.
The athletes know each other through promotional activities for the clothing
brand Kjus, for which Cuche is an ambassador.
Martens modelled for the up-coming golf collection with Cuche at a photo-shoot
in Scotland almost two months ago.
“We spent five days playing golf in Scotland. We played golf together and had
this photo-shoot and it was a lot of fun for five days, the week before the
Scottish Open,” said Martens.
“He told me he was coming and invited by the tournament and we said it would be
fun if we could play together.” However, Cuche played with local girl, Anaïs
Maggetti, a rookie on the Ladies European Tour, in the Pro Am.
“They wanted him to play with the local girl, which is good for her, because she
just said that he is her favourite sports person,” Martens added.
The best golfers from Europe are meeting this week at Gerre Losone, Switzerland,
including four former event winners: the defending champion, Italian Diana Luna,
the 2010 winner Lee-Anne Pace, 2006 champion Gwladys Nocera and Marianne
Skarpnord, the 2009 event champion. Skarpnord was the second Norwegian winner of
the event after Suzann Pettersen won in 2008.
Located at the foothills of the Swiss Alps, Golf Gerre Losone is indisputably
the most spectacular course on the Ladies European Tour schedule and many of the
players cite it as their favourite venue. The internationally renowned
competition is being played on the same course for the seventh straight year.
